Lots of people have installed garden buildings in recent years, with the concept of the garden room office gaining lots of traction once the pandemic made remote and hybrid working a mainstream activity, instead of the preserve of a few.
For that reason, you probably know people who have their own garden room that is used for work purposes, although others may prefer to have a summer house instead to make the most of the warmer months of the year.
However, these are far from the only options for a garden room. Indeed, there are some novel and innovative ways of using such a space that could offer great practical benefits, or simply be places for fun and entertainment.
For example, it is not uncommon for such a space to be used as a games room, a ‘man cave’, a playroom for kids, a gym, or an artist’s workshop, but why stop there? You could try something like creating your own bar, a recording studio, or even a yoga room. If you have an outdoor pool, it could even be a dedicated changing room.
With some flexibility, you could make the room multi-purpose so that it could do more than one of these things, giving you multiple functions in one space to really make the most of your garden space. This might also mean you can free up a room indoors for other uses, creating lots of options.
You may also be interested in some novel design ideas. There are some truly bizarre garden rooms out there, made from giant water pipes, covered in recycled tires, or assembled from recycled scrap. You don’t have to go that far, but there are many options and it doesn’t have to be some simple rectangular box.
Many people will be happy with a simple, functional garden room to work in. But if you want, you can let your imagination run wild and make it into something quite exceptional.
